On Tuesday, December 10, personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces successfully thwarted an attempted takeover of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) headquarters, preventing a potentially major disruption at one of Ghana’s key economic institutions.

The incident, captured on video and circulating on social media, shows a group of unidentified individuals attempting to force their way into the GPHA premises.

Swift intervention by military personnel stationed at the facility helped restore order. They formed a barrier to push back the intruders, using measured force to prevent further escalation. Fortunately, the situation was brought under control with no injuries or significant damage reported.

This attempted takeover is part of a growing pattern of unrest targeting government institutions across the country since John Dramani Mahama was declared president-elect. Other institutions, including the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the Forestry Commission, and Metro Mass Transit, have also been subjected to similar attempts.
