Ghanaian veteran broadcaster Godwin Avenorgbor, who served as the Director of Communication for the Melcom Group of Companies, has reportedly passed away. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.
The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), where Avenorgbor worked for several decades, confirmed the news of his sudden demise in a brief announcement on their official Facebook page on Monday, 19 August.
Avenorgbor, who is widely credited with introducing the concept of radio and TV breakfast shows in Ghana, was last seen publicly at the 75th anniversary lecture of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra. He served as the Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee for the event.
