Residents of Fijai, a suburb of the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis, were left in shock after two Nigerian nationals were caught stealing a laptop bag from a private residence on the afternoon of February 25.
The suspects, who were riding a motorbike, reportedly targeted a house while one of them got off, broke a window, and grabbed the bag before attempting to flee with his accomplice.

An eyewitness, identified as Francis, noticed their suspicious movements and kept a close watch. As soon as he saw them committing the crime, he raised an alarm and took action.
“I saw one of them break the window and take the bag. They immediately jumped on the bike and sped off. I quickly alerted people nearby and followed them with my car,” Francis recounted.
The chase ended dramatically when Francis struck the suspects’ motorbike at the Fijai crossroads, knocking them to the ground. This allowed bystanders to catch up and apprehend them.
Angry residents, frustrated by increasing theft incidents in the area, descended on the suspects and subjected them to severe beatings before handing them over to the police.
The police arrived shortly after and took the suspects into custody. Authorities have assured residents that investigations are ongoing to determine if the duo is linked to other criminal activities in the area.
