VIDEO: “Generations Won’t Forgive Us If We Spare Looters” – Rashid Tanko-Computer Fires Over $58m Cathedral Scandal, NSS Fraud

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Sofo Rashid Tanko-Computer, has issued a scathing call for accountability, warning that future generations will not forgive the current NDC government if it fails to punish corrupt officials from past administrations.

In a blistering one-on-one interview with Puretvonline, Mr. Tanko-Computer described the controversial National Cathedral project—purportedly costing over $58 million—as a blatant insult to the suffering of ordinary Ghanaians.

“How can the previous government spend over $58 million on a pond and call it a cathedral?” he questioned. “If such money is given to you, do you know what it can do in your life? Anytime I see this, I begin to get worried. “How can people be so wicked?” he fumed.

Visibly angered, the GIFEC CEO noted that he grows more incensed each time he sees the failed project from his office window, describing it as a monument to misgovernance and elite betrayal.

Tanko-Computer praised President Mahama’s new anti-corruption campaign, Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL), as a bold step in the right direction. He stressed that the campaign must be pursued with zero tolerance, regardless of political affiliations.

“This is not a witch-hunt,” he said. “The ORAL team conducts thorough investigations before releasing any findings.”

He cited the recent bombshell from Attorney General and Minister of Justice Dr Dominic Ayine, who revealed that Ghana lost over GHC 548 million through a criminal enterprise at the National Service Secretariat (NSS). The fraud reportedly involved over 81,885 ghost names on the payroll, including 9,934 fake identities allegedly created by former Deputy Director Gifty Oware-Mensah.

According to Dr Ayine, Oware-Mensah used the ghost names to acquire a GHC 30 million loan from ADB Bank under a sham company, Blocks of Life Consult, co-owned with her husband.

Investigations supervised by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) led to the detention of multiple high-ranking officials, including Oware-Mensah and former NSS Director-General Osei Assibey Antwi.

Tanko-Computer emphasised that such blatant theft must not go unpunished. “We must recover all corruptly looted items and jail those responsible. That is how we deter future wrongdoing,” he asserted.

“We must govern for the people—not for a privileged few—so the masses stop suffering at the hands of the elite,” he concluded.
