Two Vehicles Catch Fire After Head-On Collision at Apark Zongo

A head-on collision involving two Hyundai H100 vehicles sparked a dramatic fire outbreak late Monday night at Apark Zongo, near Sir Teeray’s Complex, prompting swift emergency response and averting a potential disaster.

The incident, which occurred around 10:05 p.m., saw the vehicles—with registration numbers GR 4965-17 and GX 5215-14—burst into flames shortly after the violent crash.

A rapid-response team from the Koforidua Municipal Fire Station, led by STNO II Dzaka, arrived promptly at the scene and battled the inferno for nearly 30 minutes before bringing it under control.

While the front portions of both vehicles were completely consumed by the flames, firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent properties and equipment, which could have escalated the situation.

Miraculously, no injuries or fatalities were recorded in the incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with authorities working to determine whether mechanical failure, fuel leakage, or other factors played a role in the outbreak.
