The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 20-year-old man in Asankragwa on Sunday, August 17.
A police statement said preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was pursued by a group of individuals, including the suspects, before being stabbed multiple times.
The incident is believed to have arisen from an earlier misunderstanding between the deceased and one of the suspects, identified as 36-year-old Kwasi Opong.
Opong and 23-year-old William Francis Osei were swiftly apprehended and are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations. A third suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, is on the run. Police have launched a manhunt to track him down.
The body of the victim has been deposited at the Asankrangwa Catholic Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Describing the incident as a “heinous crime”, the Western Central Regional Police Command assured the public that all perpetrators will face the full rigours of the law. It also appealed to residents to volunteer any information that could aid in the arrest of the fugitive suspect.
