Chairman of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Bernard Owusu, has outlined key expectations for President John Dramani Mahama’s upcoming State of the Nation Address, urging him to provide clear details on the government’s “resetting agenda.”
In an exclusive interview on Channel One Newsroom, Owusu emphasised the need for a well-defined strategy, particularly regarding the rising cost of living, unemployment, and wage disparities.
“We need clarity on what the government means by resetting Ghana and the concrete steps it plans to take,” Owusu stated, stressing that citizens expect practical solutions rather than vague promises.
The TUC also anticipates policy commitments on improving wage conditions, pension coverage, and bridging pay inequalities. Owusu further urged the government to prioritise national unity by fostering consensus-driven governance rather than extreme partisanship.
With Mahama’s address scheduled for Thursday, February 27, the labour union remains hopeful that the president will outline concrete, actionable solutions to address the country’s economic and social challenges.
