Three suspected armed robbers have been shot dead by police in Tema following a dramatic exchange of gunfire during an attempted warehouse robbery in the industrial enclave.
According to a statement from the Ghana Police Service, officers from the Tema Regional Command responded swiftly to a distress call in the early hours of Sunday, July 21, 2025, reporting a break-in involving about ten armed men at a warehouse in the Tema Industrial Area.
Upon arrival, the police patrol team confronted the suspects, leading to a fierce exchange of gunshots. Three of the suspected robbers were shot and later confirmed dead. The remaining suspects, some believed to be injured, managed to escape the scene and are currently being pursued.
Weapons recovered at the scene included a Bruni Mod foreign pistol, a locally manufactured double-barreled pistol loaded with two rounds of ammunition, and one live BB ammunition.
The bodies of the deceased suspects have been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary in Accra for identification, preservation, and autopsy.
The police have assured the public that a full-scale investigation is underway to track down the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
The Ghana Police Service also reiterated its commitment to maintaining public safety and urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
