Business mogul and former presidential aspirant Nana Kwame Bediako, widely known as Cheddar, has charged highlife sensation Kuami Eugene to carry the mantle of the late music icon Daddy Lumba, urging him to preserve and elevate the legendary musician’s rich legacy.
During an emotional visit to Daddy Lumba’s East Legon residence, where both men paid tribute following the singer’s recent passing, Cheddar shared heartfelt words with the young artist, declaring, “The torch is yours now. Continue the legacy.” The powerful moment has since sparked widespread admiration online, with many praising Cheddar’s symbolic endorsement of the future of highlife music.
Kuami Eugene, visibly moved by the encouragement, has often acknowledged Daddy Lumba as one of his biggest musical influences. The Lynx Entertainment signee, whose hits like “Monica” have captivated a new generation of highlife lovers, expressed deep gratitude, describing Lumba as a timeless inspiration and role model.
“I’ve always looked up to Daddy Lumba. His style, his storytelling, his melodies—everything shaped the way I create music,” Kuami Eugene has said in previous interviews.
Daddy Lumba’s residence, now draped in sombre red and black cloth, has become a pilgrimage site for fans, celebrities, and dignitaries alike. His songs gently play in the background, offering a soulful reminder of the man who gave voice to Ghana’s joys, heartbreaks, and triumphs through music.
Over the past week, a steady stream of notable figures has poured into the house to pay their respects and sign the condolence book. Among them are Minister of Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, celebrated satirist Kwaku Sintim-Misa (KSM), MP for Gomoa Central A Plus, Presidential Adviser on Diaspora Affairs Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), music legends Pat Thomas and Daughters of Glorious Jesus, singer Wendy Shay, gospel star Philipa Baafi, artiste manager Bullet, and radio host Andy Dosty.
On Friday, August 1, 2025, former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led a delegation from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the family home to express their condolences, further underscoring Lumba’s national significance.
