Telcos Hike Data Bundles by Up to 15% Under Gov’t Directive

Telecommunications companies across Ghana have rolled out increased data bundle offerings by 10 to 15 per cent, following a government directive aimed at reducing internet costs and expanding digital access.

The most notable changes appear in high-tier data plans:

Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Sam George, has tasked the National Communications Authority (NCA) with enforcing the new policy, warning telcos that non-compliance will attract sanctions.

“This adjustment is a strategic step toward digital inclusivity. We want every Ghanaian to get more value for their money in today’s data-driven economy,” the minister stated.

Telecom operators began notifying subscribers of the revised bundle structures ahead of the implementation date, aligning with the government’s directive to improve transparency and customer satisfaction.

The adjustment is part of a broader national digital agenda aimed at boosting internet penetration, enhancing education and e-commerce, and narrowing the digital divide across urban and rural communities.
