Sequans Communications S.A. (NYSE: SQNS), a leader in cellular IoT technology, has introduced its third-generation low-power semiconductor solution, expanding its Calliope and Monarch product families with two new advanced chips.
These cutting-edge chips bridge the transition from 4G low-speed modems to 5G eRedCap, addressing the longevity challenges of IoT applications while significantly improving power efficiency, integration, and cost-effectiveness. The development was supported by the French 2030 grant awarded to Sequans in 2024.
Calliope 3 builds on the success of Calliope 2 (LTE Cat 1bis) by incorporating 5G NR eRedCap, ensuring enhanced data rates and extended connectivity for IoT applications such as fleet management, wearables, and security systems.
Monarch 3 advances the capabilities of Monarch 2 (LTE-M/NB-IoT) by integrating 5G NR eRedCap, delivering ultra-low power efficiency for applications in smart metering, healthcare, and asset tracking.
To facilitate a seamless migration to 5G NR eRedCap, Calliope 3 and Monarch 3 modules will be compatible with their predecessors in both footprint and software. Sequans plans to release samples to customers in 2026.
