The Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has rejected growing calls for the removal of Black Stars coach Otto Addo, describing them as misguided and ill-timed.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Friday, October 24, the Minister said Otto Addo remains the best person to lead and prepare Ghana’s national team for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in the United States.
“There have been calls for the dismissal of the coach who guided us on this qualification path. I believe these calls are unfortunate and misplaced because the man who led us to qualification is best placed to prepare the team for the competition itself,” he said.
Kwakye Ofosu cautioned that frequent technical changes often disrupt team cohesion and progress, warning that such a move could prove counterproductive ahead of the global tournament.
“It would be a tragic mistake to dismiss the coach and hire a new person who would have very little time to prepare the team,” he added.
He urged Ghanaians to rally behind Otto Addo and the technical team, expressing confidence that with stability, planning, and public support, the Black Stars can deliver a strong performance on the world stage.
