PRINPAG Celebrates Appointment of Veteran Journalists as Ghana’s New Ambassadors

The Private Newspapers and Online Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) has hailed the appointment of two of its distinguished members, Sir Benedict Batabe Assorow and Alhaji Haruna Attah, as Ambassadors of the Republic of Ghana.

In a statement signed by its president, David Tamakloe, and issued by executive secretary Jeorge Wilson Kingson, PRINPAG extended heartfelt congratulations to the veteran journalists, describing their elevation as both an honour to the individuals and a recognition of the media’s vital role in national development.

Sir Benedict Assorow, a seasoned journalist and former editor of the Catholic Standard, has been appointed Ghana’s ambassador to the Vatican. Alhaji Haruna Attah, a well-known media practitioner associated with the Daily Mail, will represent Ghana as Ambassador to Namibia.

According to PRINPAG, the appointments reflect the government’s confidence in the values of professionalism, integrity, and service that the two men have embodied throughout their careers.

“Both appointees are longstanding members of PRINPAG whose contributions to journalism, publishing, and public discourse have been exemplary. Their elevation to such high diplomatic offices is a testament not only to their dedication and competence but also to the recognition of the pivotal role media practitioners play in national development,” the statement read.

PRINPAG further expressed appreciation to the Government of Ghana for bestowing such prestigious responsibilities on its members, adding that the association is confident that the new envoys will discharge their duties with distinction while advancing Ghana’s diplomatic interests.

The association wished Sir Benedict Assorow and Alhaji Haruna Attah success in their new assignments and reaffirmed its pride in witnessing two of its own rise to the highest levels of national service.
