Pearl Nkrumah Appointed Chairperson of Ghana Stock Exchange Council

The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) has announced the appointment of Pearl Nkrumah as the new Chairperson of its Council, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s leadership.

Her appointment comes after the resignation of John Kofi Adomakoh, who stepped down as Chairman following his exit as Managing Director of GCB Bank PLC in January 2025.

Pearl Nkrumah, an accomplished banking executive with over 25 years of experience, has been a member of the GSE Council since September 2023. She currently serves as the Executive Director for Retail and Digital Banking at Access Bank Ghana, where she has played a pivotal role in driving the institution’s digital transformation and retail expansion strategies.

Her extensive academic background includes an MBA and a BSc in Business Administration from the University of Ghana, as well as an LLB from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

She also holds a diploma in corporate governance from the Corporate Governance Institute in the UK and has undertaken executive training at Harvard Business School, equipping her with the expertise needed to steer the GSE towards greater innovation and stability.

The Ghana Stock Exchange has expressed strong confidence in Nkrumah’s leadership, emphasising her ability to drive strategic initiatives that will enhance the exchange’s role in Ghana’s financial markets.

Her appointment, which took effect on February 21, 2025, is expected to bring fresh perspectives to the exchange, particularly in fostering digital integration and improving market efficiency.

With Ghana’s financial sector evolving rapidly, stakeholders anticipate that Nkrumah’s leadership will strengthen investor confidence, deepen market participation, and propel the Ghana Stock Exchange to greater heights on both regional and international fronts.
