Paul Adom-Otchere Released After Meeting Revised Bail Conditions

Former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Paul Adom-Otchere, has been released from custody following the approval of revised bail terms by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

Mr. Adom-Otchere, who had been held for failing to meet initial bail requirements, was released on Friday, August 1, in the company of his legal team and former Attorney General Godfred Dame. His release follows days in custody after informing the OSP that he did not own landed property in Ghana—one of the initial bail conditions.

The OSP, in a statement, confirmed that the revised terms were secured by the Jospong Group of Companies, which has stepped in to act as surety. The new conditions were the result of negotiations between the OSP and Adom-Otchere’s legal counsel.

“The revised terms, which meet the objectives of the original bail conditions, have been secured by the Jospong Group of Companies,” the statement said, adding that the case remains under active investigation.

Despite his release, Mr. Adom-Otchere has reportedly been recalled by the OSP to complete some administrative procedures related to the investigation.

He was recently charged in connection with a revenue assurance contract between GACL and a private firm allegedly awarded without the full approval of the GACL Board. The contract is suspected to have breached procurement laws.
