Lawyers for the Fosu Royal Family of Parkoso and Nsuta have firmly rejected recent complaints by Akosua Serwah Fosu, the Germany-based wife of the late Ghanaian highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu — popularly known as Daddy Lumba — regarding his funeral arrangements and estate management.
In a letter dated October 1, 2025, and signed by Fati Ali-Yallah of Baba Jamal & Associates, the legal team stressed that Mrs Fosu has no legal or customary authority to determine how the family should conduct the funeral of the celebrated musician.
The letter alleged that Mrs Fosu abandoned Daddy Lumba about 15 years ago when he fell seriously ill, choosing not to return to Ghana to care for him. It further stated that she performed customary rites to dissolve their marriage, an act recognised under Akan tradition, thereby ending her marital ties to the musician.
The Fosu Royal Family, through their lawyers, officially recognises Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as Odo Broni, as Daddy Lumba’s wife. The two reportedly lived together for over 15 years and had six children, forming the nucleus of his immediate family during his later years.
On matters of the late musician’s estate, the lawyers explained that all his assets will be treated as part of his estate and will be jointly managed by the family and his children to ensure transparency and fairness.
They cautioned that no individual has the right to interfere with Daddy Lumba’s properties until proper legal procedures are concluded.
The statement also revealed that Baba Jamal & Associates holds specific instructions left by Daddy Lumba himself, which will guide the family in executing his wishes for both the funeral and the distribution of his estate.
The Fosu Royal Family called for calm and urged all parties—including Akosua Serwah Fosu—to engage in peaceful dialogue to give the legendary musician a dignified and unifying farewell.
“This is a moment to honour his legacy, not to divide. We urge all parties to work together in peace,” the statement concluded.
