Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, Mustapha Gbande, has taken a swipe at the New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing them of refusing to acknowledge their shortcomings and instead maintaining a posture of arrogance.
His remarks come in response to the NPP’s planned “True State of the Nation Address” on March 4, 2025, a move intended to counter President John Dramani Mahama’s address on February 27.
The opposition party claims the president’s speech failed to capture the true realities of Ghana’s current state.
Gbande, however, dismissed the NPP’s approach, insisting that a responsible party would use this moment for self-reflection rather than resorting to attacks.
“If the NPP were a serious political party with thinking leaders, they would take this opportunity to reflect, reconnect with their base, and apologise to Ghanaians. Instead, they are doubling down on arrogance, insults, and a mindset that threatens national stability,” he stated.
He further assured that the ruling NDC would not allow the opposition to derail the government’s focus with what he described as unnecessary distractions and misinformation.
He made these statements with Citi News’ Akosua Otchere.
