President John Dramani Mahama has dismissed suggestions of hostility between his administration and the judiciary, reaffirming his government’s commitment to working closely with the legal fraternity.
Speaking at a meeting with the Ghana Bar Association on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, Mahama addressed concerns about a perceived rift, stating that his government remains open to collaboration with the judiciary to enhance governance.
“Government is open to working with you, particularly on our side of the political divide. There’s this perception that we have a problem with the legal fraternity and things like that,” he said.
He pointed to key members of his administration, including Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong, as proof of his government’s respect and recognition of legal professionals.
Mahama further stressed that his administration does not hold any grudge or animosity toward the judiciary, stating, “We’re not people who have any such animosity towards the judiciary and the legal fraternity. So our doors are open.”
