MTN Ghana has officially concluded its flagship employee volunteerism initiative, the 21 Days of Y’ello Care campaign, which this year focused on deepening digital inclusion and bridging the technology divide in underserved communities across the country.
Held under the theme “Connecting at the Roots: Connecting Communities with Digital Tools”, the 2025 edition mobilised thousands of MTN staff across all 16 regions to step out of their offices and into the heart of local communities, delivering hands-on support and life-changing tools to empower citizens.
During the 21-day campaign, MTN staff and partner organisations:
- Clothed 500 schoolchildren across multiple communities,
- Trained over 100 youth in essential digital and tech skills,
- Empowered 200+ women with sustainable livelihood training,
- Onboarded thousands onto MTN’s mCare health platform,
- Equipped 50 farmers with agri-tech tools to boost productivity.
- Donated 30 computers to ICT hubs in underserved communities.
- Donated three LED screens to schools to enhance learning.
- And promoted ICT access and future-ready learning nationwide.
At the closing ceremony held in Accra, Adwoa Wiafe, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer at MTN Ghana, commended the dedication of MTN employees and applauded the tangible impact made in every region.
“This year’s Y’ello Care was not just a project; it was a movement of hearts,” Wiafe said. “From the pottery sheds at Torgome to smart farms in Nyankpala, from ICT labs to rural classrooms, we showed that service is not something we do—it is who we are.”
She also thanked MTN’s numerous partners, including Opportunity Industrialisation Technical Institute, Holland Green Technology, Pel’s Farms Foundation, Mobile Web Ghana, and MedPharma, among others, whose collaboration brought scale and sustainability to the campaign’s impact.
Florence Toffa, CEO of Mobile Web Ghana, praised MTN for its targeted investment in youth development, particularly in Dominase, Central Region.
“In communities like Dominase, young people have devices in their hands. With the skills training provided through MTN’s support, these devices have become powerful tools for income generation and self-employment,” she said.
Toffa called on other corporate bodies to emulate MTN’s example by supporting programmes that build tech skills and digital confidence among Ghanaian youth.
The ceremony was attended by key MTN executives, including Chief Digital Officer Ibrahim Misto; MobileMoney Ltd representatives; Bayobab Ghana; MTN staff; traditional leaders; and key education stakeholders.
The 21 Days of Y’ello Care, launched by the MTN Group in 2007, is celebrated annually in June as a platform for employees to volunteer time, skills, and resources in service of their communities. This year’s edition once again underscored the power of purposeful partnership and employee-driven social impact.
