Ghanaian music icon Emmanuel Andrews Samini, popularly known as Samini, has dismissed rumours suggesting that he is at odds with Nigerian superstar Wizkid, stating emphatically that a beef between them is impossible.
Speaking in an interview with George Quaye on Joy Prime, the reggae-dancehall legend addressed the longstanding speculation surrounding their hit collaboration, “Time Bomb”, and the absence of an official music video for the track.
“We were meant to shoot a music video, but everything happened so fast. The track itself wasn’t planned when we recorded it,” Samini explained.
Social media buzz has, over the years, fueled rumours of tension between the two celebrated artists, with many fans questioning why a video was never produced for the widely acclaimed song. However, Samini firmly rejected the idea that any personal conflict was involved.
“Me and Wizkid could never have beef. He is a young guy I have seen grow. I and he could never have had beef,” he said.
Samini’s remarks reflect the mutual admiration shared between him and Wizkid, who collaborated during a period when both artists were at major turning points in their careers. Their song “Time Bomb” remains a fan favourite, blending Samini’s conscious dancehall style with Wizkid’s smooth Afrobeats energy.
The veteran artiste, known for timeless hits like “Linda”, “Where My Baby Dey”, and “My Own”, continues to command deep respect across the African music scene for his role in shaping contemporary Ghanaian reggae and dancehall.

“We didn’t get to shoot the video, but that has nothing to do with beef. Things just didn’t line up,” he concluded.
