Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority, Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, has assured Ghanaians that President John Dramani Mahama’s first budget will be a game-changer, fulfilling key campaign promises and setting the country on a new economic trajectory.
Speaking on TV3’s New Day on Monday, March 10, Tameklo declared that the 2025 Budget, set to be presented in Parliament on Tuesday, March 11, will leave Ghanaians “mind-blown.”
“What I am convinced of is that tomorrow, by the grace of the Almighty God, the first budget of President John Dramani Mahama will clearly blow the minds of Ghanaians,” he said.
He emphasised that the budget would reflect the government’s commitment to delivering on its 120-day social contract, ensuring that campaign promises are not just rhetoric but tangible policies backed by financial commitments.
“The details, some of which I am privy to, will demonstrate that when a politician sits on a political platform and says, ‘Vote for me, and I will do A, B, C, D,’ he actually means exactly what it is,” Tameklo stated.
Tameklo revealed that the budget would feature significant reforms, particularly in taxation, infrastructure development, and agriculture.
According to him, the government will introduce policies aimed at easing the tax burden on businesses and individuals while ensuring economic growth.
On road infrastructure, he noted that strategic projects will receive funding to improve transportation and enhance connectivity across the country.
He also disclosed that the budget will provide a clear financial commitment toward a lasting solution for the Keta tidal waves, a longstanding issue affecting coastal communities in the Volta Region.
Tameklo reassured Ghanaians that President Mahama remains focused on fulfilling the pledges made during his campaign.
“The budget is for the President; the Minister only reads it on his behalf. Now, in that budget, clearly, the campaign promises in our social contract to the people of this country, we are going to ensure that step by step, we will deliver on it,” he added.
As anticipation builds ahead of the budget presentation, the government’s ability to translate these promises into actionable policies will be closely watched by both citizens and economic analysts.
