Mahama Inaugurates 120-Day Social Contract Task Force to Oversee Key Reforms

President John Dramani Mahama has officially launched a 19-member Social Contract Task Force, mandated to monitor and ensure the delivery of his 120-day social contract commitments.

The task force was inaugurated at Jubilee House on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

This initiative stems from the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s 2024 manifesto, which outlined a series of bold economic and governance reforms aimed at reviving Ghana’s economy and alleviating economic hardship. During its unveiling in Winneba, Mahama criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, citing high inflation, currency depreciation, and soaring unemployment as failures that his administration seeks to rectify.

Mahama’s 120-day social contract outlines 26 key transformational initiatives, spanning economic recovery, governance, employment, education, and digital innovation.

The task force will track progress, ensure accountability, and fast-track implementation within the first four months of his presidency.

The task force brings together a mix of experienced policymakers, technocrats, and advisors:

Key Ministers on the Task Force

Mahama’s administration has positioned this task force as a mechanism for swift and measurable action. By integrating key government ministries, advisors, and policy experts, the task force will:
✔ Oversee the implementation of 26 major policies.
✔ Ensure timely execution of economic and social interventions.
✔ Provide regular updates on progress and challenges.
✔ Hold ministries accountable for delivering on campaign promises.

With the 120-day countdown underway, the task force is expected to set the pace for Mahama’s governance strategy, ensuring a transparent and efficient execution of his administration’s priorities.
