A new Parliamentary Attendance Report has commended 34 Members of Parliament (MPs) for their exceptional dedication to legislative duties, having attended all 43 sittings held between January 7 and March 29, 2025.
The report, which tracks MPs’ participation in plenary sessions, highlights those who demonstrated consistency and commitment to parliamentary business during the first quarter of the year — a period marked by intensive debates, budget reviews, and committee meetings.
Among those who recorded 100% attendance are both senior and first-time legislators drawn from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) .

The report underscores the growing emphasis on parliamentary accountability and attendance tracking, following past criticisms that absenteeism had undermined the effectiveness of legislative work.
Meanwhile, civil society groups have renewed calls for sanctions against habitual absentees and for real-time publication of attendance records to promote transparency and performance-based assessment of lawmakers.
Parliament is expected to release the second-quarter attendance report later in the year, which will cover sittings from April to June 2025.
