Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International, has issued a passionate call to President John Dramani Mahama to rise to the challenge of his second term by leading a bold, transformational national agenda that strengthens Ghana’s economy and unites its people under a shared vision.
Speaking at the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving held at the State House in Accra, the Archbishop urged the President to seize the moment and leave a lasting legacy.
“Mr President, within three years, make a difference,” he charged.
“Impact this world and change the narrative of Ghana. Let the Cedi thrive under your leadership. Let the cedi flourish under your leadership, and let things get better and better under your leadership like never before.”
The comments, which drew loud applause from the congregation of political leaders, clergy, and civil society actors, were part of a wider appeal for a values-based, long-term development strategy that transcends political cycles.
“We need to develop a strong love for God. Also, love the country and the love for Ghana,” Archbishop Duncan-Williams said.
“When we love this nation genuinely, and when we put aside our political divisions, the nation will rise.”
The Archbishop emphasised the need for a unifying national agenda, modelled after global examples of long-term planning in countries such as China, India, and the United Arab Emirates.
“Countries like China, India, and Dubai have 100-year national visions. They have an agenda and a roadmap that all leaders must follow regardless of political affiliation,” he explained.
He continued:
“Ghana, our motherland, is where our vision and agenda are. Under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, a national agenda will be established to compel all stakeholders to follow that agenda. Let it not be about one man or one party but about Ghana. Let it be about the good of all.”
The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, observed under the theme “Thanksgiving and Hope”, brought together various leaders to intercede for the peace, unity, and direction of the nation. The Archbishop’s remarks stood out as a clarion call for renewed purpose, national cohesion, and spiritual grounding in the governance of the country.
Archbishop Duncan-Williams concluded with a blessing over the presidency and the nation:
“May God give you wisdom, Mr President. May He surround you with men and women of integrity, not just sycophants. And may your leadership be remembered for the transformation it brought to Ghana.”
