Popular Ghanaian comic actor Samuel Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, widely known as Koo Fori, has pleaded not guilty to charges of defrauding a US-based Ghanaian of $50,000 under false pretences.
The veteran “Efiewura” TV series actor appeared before the Dansoman Circuit Court on Monday, May 12, following his arrest by the Accra Central Police Command on Friday, May 9.
Koo Fori has been charged with defrauding by false pretence and was granted bail set at GH₵320,000 with three sureties.
According to police sources, the California-based complainant transferred the funds to the actor under the belief that it was for a legitimate investment opportunity. However, after receiving the money, Koo Fori allegedly failed to follow through on the agreed transaction and became unreachable.
The victim, who has chosen to remain anonymous, reported the case to authorities after numerous unsuccessful attempts to recover the funds.
Further investigations uncovered that Koo Fori had also ignored a court summons to appear before the Dansoman District Court on April 17, 2025. His failure to comply with the legal directive prompted the court to issue a bench warrant for his arrest.
The case has been adjourned, and proceedings are expected to continue as investigators work to determine the full scope of the allegations.
