The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has inaugurated the “Rail Robotics Club” at Ola Girls’ Senior High School in Kenyasi, Ahafo Region, as part of its initiative to enhance students’ knowledge and skills in artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics.
Dr. Eunice Akyereko Adjei, a senior lecturer in KNUST’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, highlighted the program’s focus on equipping students with practical knowledge to navigate the evolving landscape of AI and robotics.
In an interview with Adom TV, Dr. Adjei explained, “This club is designed to empower students to use AI and robotics to solve challenges in their communities, improving living standards and fostering innovation.”
The initiative marks the beginning of a larger plan to establish similar clubs across junior and senior high schools nationwide, encouraging creativity and technological advancement among young learners.
Speaking at the launch, Richard Ernest Amankwah, the assistant headmaster of administration at Ola Girls’ SHS, expressed gratitude to KNUST for selecting the school to pilot this forward-thinking program.
He assured the public that the school’s management would work diligently to ensure the club’s sustainability and success in achieving its objectives.
The Rail Robotics Club represents a significant step in integrating cutting-edge technology education into the curriculum of Ghanaian schools, nurturing the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers.
