Member of Parliament for Klottey-Korle, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has expressed outrage and sorrow over the fatal stabbing of a student at Kinbu Senior High School in Accra, calling the incident both “tragic and senseless.”
The stabbing, which occurred on Thursday, July 31, 2025, led to the death of 15-year-old Addib Alhassan, a first-year student. The young boy was allegedly involved in a heated altercation with a classmate, resulting in the violent attack.
In a statement issued on Friday, August 1, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings condemned the violence and vowed to support efforts to bring justice and prevent such incidents in the future.
“I strongly condemn this act of violence, and I will collaborate with the Ghana Police Service and other relevant authorities to ensure that thorough investigations are swiftly done and that justice is served,” she stated.
The MP further stressed that educational institutions must remain sanctuaries for learning, development, and safety. She urged both the education and security sectors to conduct urgent assessments and reinforce safety protocols within schools.
“This tragedy must be a wake-up call for all stakeholders in the education and security sectors to prevent such incidents from recurring,” she added.
Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, students, staff, and the entire Kinbu SHS community. She also pledged her commitment to working with the Ghana Education Service (GES), school authorities, and security agencies to strengthen safety and mental health support systems across schools in her constituency.
According to preliminary reports, Addib Alhassan sustained critical stab wounds during the altercation and was initially rushed to the Adabraka Polyclinic. He was later transferred to the Ridge Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The Ghana Police Service has yet to provide a full account of the events leading to the incident, but investigations are ongoing.
