I Was Officially Invited For A Vetting Yesterday- Ablakwa To Afenyo-Markin

The Foreign Affairs Ministry nominee, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has refuted claims by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who alleged that Ablakwa was not scheduled to appear before the Appointments Committee on Thursday, January 30.

Ablakwa, who appeared before the Committee on Friday, January 31, asserted that his presence at the vetting session was legitimate and formally arranged. He strongly denied any suggestion that he had forced his way into the proceedings.

“I am not some hooligan who will be smuggled into the Appointments Committee’s meeting to be vetted,” he stated, expressing his displeasure with Afenyo-Markin’s accusations.

The nominee further noted that the claims not only cast doubt on his integrity but also raised concerns among his chiefs and respected ambassadors regarding the legitimacy of his vetting session.

Ablakwa has since demanded an apology from Afenyo-Markin, describing the allegations as baseless and damaging to his reputation.

“We demand an unqualified apology for his actions,” Ablakwa asserted, insisting that the accusations were unfounded.

The controversy stems from a press conference held earlier by Afenyo-Markin, during which he questioned the legitimacy of Ablakwa’s vetting appearance.

However, Ablakwa has maintained that his participation was in accordance with official procedures and protocols.
