I Am the Bridge Between Gov’t Policy And Mining Productivity, Says New Minerals Commission CEO

The newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission, Isaac Andrews Tandoh, has assured Ghanaians that his leadership will focus on striking the right balance between government policy objectives and mining sector productivity.

Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Business Edition on Thursday, September 4, Mr Tandoh highlighted that his more than 20 years of mining experience place him in a unique position to bridge the gap between policy formulation and practical implementation in the industry.

“A lot of good things have happened at the Minerals Commission. My predecessor built capacity, infrastructure, and strong systems. These are fundamentals we can build on to drive the government’s strategic direction,” he said.

He noted that his professional background in mining operations gives him first-hand insight into what works for companies, while also understanding the expectations of policymakers.

“If you ask what I bring to the table, at least I have over two decades of mining experience, so I’ve been on the other side implementing policies. I would know what will be beneficial to the company as well as the government,” Mr Tandoh explained.

He stressed that this dual perspective will be central to his leadership style:

“At least I should be the one to strike a balance between government policies and what actually drives productivity or efficiency for companies. I am in the right position to advise the government based on my experience and where I am coming from.”

Industry watchers say the Minerals Commission CEO faces the challenging task of ensuring Ghana maximises its mineral resources for national development while sustaining investor confidence and operational efficiency in the sector.
