The Secretary General of Diplomatic Envoy Globalisation, Samuel Aryeequaye, has officially announced his resignation from the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) and the forfeiture of his membership in the party.
In a statement, Mr Aryeequaye disclosed that he had formally notified the founder and flagbearer of the party, Hon. Percival Kofi Akpaloo, about his decision to sever all ties with the LPG.
He emphasised that the move was a difficult but necessary one, given his current diplomatic position, which bars him from active partisan politics.
“It was an arduous decision to take, underscoring the good relationship I have with my founder, but life sometimes puts us at a certain spot where we cannot engage in active partisan politics,” he stated.
Reflecting on his time with the LPG, Mr Aryeequaye expressed gratitude for the opportunities granted him, including representing the party as its parliamentary candidate for Agona East in the 2020 general elections and later serving as national organiser until his resignation from that role in 2022.
He also addressed the timing of his statement, noting that it followed recent comments made by his former leader, Mr Akpaloo, regarding the tragic Z-9 military helicopter crash that claimed eight lives, including two ministers of state.
“I humbly employ the rapt attention of all Ghanaians to my current portfolio as the Secretary General for an internationally recognised diplomatic organisation, Diplomatic Envoy Globalisation. Having served in this position bars you from active partisan politics, and I wish to deepen my love and wholehearted respect for H.E. Percival Kofi Akpaloo for giving me the opportunity to serve his party,” he added.
Mr Aryeequaye reiterated that he is no longer a member of the LPG and urged the public and media to take note of his current non-partisan status.
