Huawei has confirmed the release schedule for its upcoming Watch GT 6 and Watch GT 6 Pro, in a move that defies the company’s usual launch playbook. For the first time, the flagship wearables will debut globally before reaching China, Huawei’s home market.
The company revealed that the global launch is set for September 19, with the devices only arriving in China five days later on September 24.
This reversal comes as a surprise to many, given Huawei’s history of prioritising domestic launches. For instance, earlier this month, the foldable Mate XTs was first rolled out in China, with no clear timeline yet for its international availability.
The Watch GT 6 series is expected to headline Huawei’s September 19 global event. Industry insiders also anticipate the unveiling of the Watch Ultimate 2, following a recent leak, mirroring Samsung’s dual launch strategy with the Galaxy Watch8 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025.
According to details leaked by WinFuture, the Watch Ultimate 2 may ship with next-gen silicon-carbon batteries, delivering up to 65% higher capacity compared to current models—a major leap in smartwatch endurance.
Meanwhile, Huawei has already quietly begun selling one of its new wearables in select European markets ahead of the official event, underscoring its push to dominate the premium smartwatch space.
The decision to prioritise global customers reflects Huawei’s growing focus on international markets, particularly as it looks to challenge Samsung, Apple, and Garmin in the high-end smartwatch segment.
