Presidential Advisor on the 24-Hour Economy, Mr Augustus Goosie Obuodum Tanoh, has confirmed that Ghana is officially moving into the implementation phase of its flagship 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme, following final cabinet approval and the programme’s formal launch in Accra.
Speaking ahead of the launch, Mr Tanoh outlined an ambitious rollout strategy featuring 50 distinct commercial, institutional, and social projects of varying scales, all designed to operationalise the policy and stimulate national productivity across sectors.
“Now that the Cabinet has approved the programme, we have entered the implementation phase,” Tanoh announced. “Over the next six months, we have a busy schedule.”
As part of the initial phase, concept notes are being prepared for the first 20 projects, which will serve as engagement tools for both public and private stakeholders.
“These concept notes will be our primary tools for engaging institutional stakeholders—entrepreneurs, financiers, donors, MDAs, MMDAs, contractors, CSOs, youth leaders, and others,” he explained. “They will be made available on our website for public engagement.”
Mr Tanoh added that the programme will rely on transparent collaboration with local and international partners to attract investment and drive results.
Responding to public confusion surrounding circulating versions of the 24H+ documents, Mr Tanoh clarified that the programme consists of nine formal reports:
- One comprehensive “Full Report” which includes all content;
- Eight subprogramme documents, each focused on a thematic area:
Grow24, Make24, Build24, Show24, Connect24, Fund24, Aspire24, and Go24.
“If you have the full report, you have everything,” he stated. “Each subprogramme document includes the introductory material from the full report and its specific thematic chapter.”
The 24-Hour Economy and Export Development Programme, a flagship initiative of President John Dramani Mahama, is being positioned as a national economic reset aimed at extending productivity beyond traditional hours and integrating value chains across time zones.
It is structured to create 1.7 million quality jobs over four years, cut import dependency, and boost Ghana’s presence in regional and global export markets. Key sectors being targeted include agriculture, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure, logistics, and textiles.
At its core, the initiative seeks to unlock Ghana’s full productive potential by mobilising the energy and talent of “every Ghanaian, every hour of the day”.
