Ghana to Host 2025 Global Entrepreneurship Festival as Startup Bill Nears Completion

Ghana is set to become the global hub for innovation and entrepreneurship this November as it prepares to host the prestigious 2025 Global Entrepreneurship Festival, according to the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George.

Speaking at a media briefing on Thursday, June 3, 2025, the minister revealed that Ghana had officially been selected to host the global event, which is expected to attract over 10,000 participants from more than 70 countries, with over 100 exhibitors participating over a three-day period.

“This is not just an event. It is a significant opportunity for Ghana to open its doors to venture capitalists, global investors, and captains of industry from around the world,” the minister said.

In line with Ghana’s commitment to fostering a thriving innovation ecosystem, the ministry has made strong strides on the Ghana Education and Startup Bill, which aims to formalise and energise the country’s startup sector.

The draft bill, initially submitted in March 2025, has already undergone extensive stakeholder consultations across committee, zonal, and national levels, confirming broad consensus on its core provisions.

Samuel Nartey George disclosed that the bill is currently undergoing final processes, with plans for submission to Cabinet and subsequently Parliament. The government is targeting December 2025 for its passage into law.

Once enacted, the Startup Bill will:

“This bill is designed to make Ghana an investor-ready digital economy, driven by local entrepreneurs and backed by a clear, supportive legal framework,” the minister said.

Hosting the Global Entrepreneurship Festival is expected to elevate Ghana’s profile on the global startup map. With the pending legislation reinforcing the government’s support for the entrepreneurial sector, the event will serve as a springboard for new partnerships, funding deals, and innovation opportunities.

Minister George emphasised that this dual milestone — the global festival and the Startup Bill — demonstrates Ghana’s growing leadership in digital transformation, innovation, and enterprise support across Africa.
