“The world is moving towards electronic participation in sports, and Ghana cannot afford to be left behind,” he stressed.
The minister pledged his full support in ensuring the sport’s growth and sustainability, urging the federation to seize available opportunities in the sports ecosystem.
He highlighted the over $1 trillion available globally for sports development, encouraging e-sports leaders to position themselves for investment and sponsorship opportunities.
Hon. Adams also warned of cybersecurity risks, advising the federation to put measures in place to safeguard the sport from cyberattacks.
“Guarding against cyber threats is crucial. We must do everything possible to protect this sport,” he added.
He revealed that the Sports and Recreation Ministry is reviewing the Sports Act, assuring the federation that their input will be considered to ensure e-sports is recognised and supported at the legislative level.
President of the E-Sports Federation, Mr. Igor Boumekpo, expressed gratitude to the minister for his commitment to the sport’s growth.
He also appealed for government support in establishing regional e-sports centres across all 16 regions, ensuring the sport’s expansion and accessibility nationwide.
