A fierce fire that erupted in a cluster of commercial shops selling assorted drinks near the Shell Filling Station at Achimota Abofu has been successfully extinguished by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
The Anyaa, National Headquarters, Legon, and Madina Fire Stations swiftly responded after receiving the emergency call at 1508 hours, with the first fire appliance arriving at 1526 hours.
Firefighting operations continued for several hours, with the blaze confined at 1655 hours, brought under control at 1756 hours, and completely extinguished by 1812 hours.
According to the GNFS, three civilians sustained minor injuries during the incident and were promptly transported to the hospital, where they are responding to treatment. No firefighter injuries were recorded.
While several metal containers and their contents were destroyed, firefighters managed to salvage seven metal containers stocked with soft drinks and tissue papers and nearby structures, successfully preventing the fire from spreading further.
