EOCO Arrests Former BOST CEO Edwin Provencal at Kotoka Airport

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has arrested the former Chief Executive Officer of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), Edwin Provencal, in connection with ongoing investigations into activities that allegedly occurred during his tenure.

Citi News sources confirm that Mr Provencal was apprehended at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on Monday, November 10, as he attempted to board a flight to Maputo, Mozambique.

According to sources, the former BOST boss had been placed on a stop list by EOCO, which meant he was barred from leaving the country without prior clearance. His attempted departure reportedly triggered an alert, prompting immediate action by airport and EOCO officials.

Details of the investigation remain limited, but it is understood that the probe relates to financial and operational transactions undertaken during his leadership at the state-owned oil company.

Mr Provencal, who led BOST between 2019 and 2024, is currently assisting EOCO with its investigations.

The Economic and Organised Crime Office has not yet issued an official statement on the arrest, but sources within the agency indicate that the case is being treated as a matter of national economic interest.

Meanwhile, security sources say EOCO is expected to brief the Attorney General’s Department as part of the next steps in the ongoing inquiry.
