Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Special Aide to former Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged Ghanaians to refrain from politicising the ongoing GH₵49 million National Signals Bureau (NSB) scandal, stressing that the matter must be approached strictly within the confines of the law.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, May 10, Aboagye cautioned against turning the controversy into a political weapon, insisting that accountability must be driven by legal procedures rather than public outcry or political maneuvering.
“We shouldn’t mix politics with law,” Aboagye said. “If there is credible evidence that public funds were misapplied, it must be pursued through formal investigations, not through headline-grabbing accusations.”
The NSB saga gained traction following a leaked memo in which the former head of the Bureau, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, allegedly claimed GH₵5,135,000 was used to purchase luxury vehicles for the then President-elect, a claim the Mahama administration has since denied.
While pressure mounts from various groups for swift answers, Aboagye emphasized the importance of due process and called for an independent investigation led by the Attorney-General’s Office and security agencies.
“Let us resist the temptation to weaponise these allegations for political gain,” he appealed. “Ghanaians deserve clarity and accountability, and that can only be achieved by keeping politics out of the courtroom.”
His comments echo recent sentiments from civil society groups like the Institute for Democratic Governance (IDEG), which has also called for a full probe into the matter without partisan interference.
