Dell Technologies has announced the appointment of Habib Mahakian as the new Managing Director and Vice President for its South Africa operations, effective immediately.
The move follows the recent resignation of Doug Woolley, who has joined the JSE-listed Altron Group as Sales Executive for Altron Digital Business.
Mahakian’s promotion expands his existing role as Vice President for Emerging Markets at Dell and signals the tech giant’s strategic intent to deepen its footprint in South Africa as the country intensifies its digital transformation agenda.
“Habib brings valuable insight into how AI, hybrid cloud and secure infrastructure can drive real impact. As South Africa embraces digital transformation, Habib is well-placed to lead Dell’s mission of innovation and growth in the region,” Dell said in a statement on Wednesday.
The leadership change comes at a critical time for Dell, as businesses across Africa ramp up adoption of emerging technologies to remain competitive and resilient.
Meanwhile, Doug Woolley has taken on a key executive role at Altron Digital Business, where he is expected to lead the sales organisation with a focus on strategic execution and market expansion.
“He joins the business at a pivotal time as it accelerates its expansion and deepens its focus on delivering outcome-driven solutions that help clients operate, optimise and transform their digital environments,” Altron noted in a statement released last month.
