- Member of Parliament for Adansi Akrofuom, Hon. Joseph Azumah, has expressed deep sorrow over the devastating military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight distinguished Ghanaians, pledging the full cooperation of his constituency in ongoing investigations.
In a solemn statement, Hon. Azumah extended condolences on behalf of the people of Adansi Akrofuom to the families, colleagues, and loved ones of the victims, describing the loss as “an immeasurable tragedy not only to their families but to all Ghanaians.”
The crash occurred in a forested area near Adansi Brofoyedru on Wednesday morning, August 6, 2025. According to reports, the helicopter, which was en route to Obuasi, lost contact with radar before going down and bursting into flames.
The MP confirmed the passing of several high-profile individuals, including
- Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah – Minister for Defence
- Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed – MP and Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology
- Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna – Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator and former Minister for Food and Agriculture
- Dr. Samuel Sarpong – Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
- Mr. Samuel Aboagye – Former Parliamentary Candidate
- Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Annala – Ghana Air Force
- Flying Officer Manin Twum Ampadu – Ghana Air Force
“These individuals served our country with distinction and dedication,” Hon. Azumah stated. “Their passing has plunged our constituency and the entire nation into mourning.”
He assured that the Adansi Akrofuom Constituency is working closely with the Ghana Armed Forces, security agencies, and emergency responders to support both rescue operations and the investigations into the cause of the crash.
“May their souls rest in perfect peace, and may the Almighty comfort all those grieving this national tragedy,” he added.
