$800 Is Not A Big Deal, Stop Critiquing Sammy – Agradaa

Evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has waded into the controversy surrounding Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, following a viral video that captured him handing her an undisclosed sum of money in public.

The video has sparked sharp criticism from both the public and high-profile members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), including former Member of Parliament Ras Mubarak. Critics argue that the act undermines the credibility of President John Dramani Mahama’s newly launched Code of Conduct for Public Officials, which champions transparency and ethical leadership.

Addressing her congregation, Nana Agradaa dismissed the uproar as exaggerated, revealing that the money in question amounted to only $800.

She defended Gyamfi’s gesture as an act of generosity, calling on critics within the NDC to stop politicising the issue.

“How much is $800? If you are NDC, don’t let this disturb you. The Bible says to always tap into somebody’s blessings. If you speak against this kind gesture from Sammy Gyamfi and later take money from a government official one day, it becomes a curse on your life,” she said.

Agradaa insisted that the incident was not political misconduct but a personal expression of kindness.

In response to the backlash, Sammy Gyamfi issued a public apology via social media:

“This was simply a kind gesture to a fellow human being, in line with my daily and lifelong custom of lending a helping hand to people in need,” he explained.

“To all comrades who are sincerely hurt by it, I AM SINCERELY SORRY for this unfortunate act of indiscretion.”

Despite his apology, the controversy continues to dominate political discourse. Sources at Citi News confirm that Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has summoned Gyamfi to the Jubilee House for questioning, as pressure mounts within the Mahama administration to uphold standards of public accountability.
