Presidential Advisor on the 24-Hour Economy, Goosie Tanoh, has thrown his full weight behind Ghana’s bold economic shift, declaring that the country is well-equipped to implement the 24-Hour Economy and reap the transformational benefits it promises.
Speaking at the official unveiling of the policy in Accra, Mr Tanoh struck a confident and optimistic tone, positioning the initiative as a game-changer for national development.
“We, as a country, we as a people, have what it takes to succeed,” he affirmed. “Our president is a true champion of responsible entrepreneurship and national transformation.”
Mr. Tanoh described the 24-Hour Economy as a “living programme” — dynamic, flexible, and deeply grounded in social democratic values. He emphasised that the policy is designed to adapt as it grows, learning from real-world conditions and feedback.
“We will learn many lessons along the way and make numerous adjustments. This is the only way a programme can transform our society in the short, medium, and long term,” he explained.
Acknowledging the complexity of the task, Mr Tanoh said the secretariat is open to criticism and public input, which he called essential for fine-tuning the programme and achieving long-term impact.
“Criticism is always welcome. Constructive feedback will be key to our success,” he noted.
The 24-Hour Economy policy aims to usher in round-the-clock operations across priority sectors such as healthcare, transport, retail, and manufacturing. It is expected to generate jobs, boost productivity, and accelerate inclusive economic growth.
At its core, the initiative seeks to tap into Ghana’s untapped economic potential by maximising the use of time, infrastructure, and human resources — positioning the country as a modern, resilient, and competitive economy in the global landscape.
As Ghana rolls out the programme, the government is urging both the private sector and the public to embrace the vision, collaborate across industries, and help build an economy that works — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
